How do I add students to the program?


This video demonstrates the two ways to add or enroll students in Flow Reading Fluency Digital.

You can add students using two different methods:

  1. Add each student individually
  2. Add multiple students at once using the CSV upload tool

Please note: When creating usernames, they can only contain alphanumeric lowercase characters (letters and numbers), underscore (_), hyphen (-), period (.) or at symbol (@).

Importing Previous Students

If you are adding a student who has used the program with another teacher before, you have the option to add them with their previous work data or without (clean slate). The username MUST match the student's previous username if you want to import their previous work data. The student's previous teacher must also delete the student from his/her class before you can import the student. Flow Reading Fluency Digital does not store student information, so we will not be able to recover the usernames.

Importing Previous Students Individually 

  1. Click on "Students" in the left sidebar
  2. Click "Add Student"
  3. Enter student information. The username must match the student's previous username.
  4. Click "Create Account"
  5. Leave the box unchecked if you would like to import the student's previous work data. If you would like to add the student without his previous work data, check the box.
  6. Click "Import"


Importing Previous Students via CSV 

  1. Click on "Students" in the left sidebar
  2. Click "Import via CSV"
  3. Click "Choose CSV file" and locate your CSV file using the "file picker". You can also drag your file to the upload area.
  4. Click "Upload Users"
  5. Review the "user preview" information
    1. New students will be listed a the top
    2. Students who have previously used the program with another teacher will be listed at the bottom. You can import these students with their previous work data, or you can check the box to import them with a "clean slate."
  6. Click "Upload Users"
  7. Please wait. Do not exit the screen while students are being uploaded. 
  8. Review the upload report screen. This screen will tell you if your upload was successful or why some students were not able to be uploaded.
